Route to SP203 (FD&A) Certification Scheme

If you are involved in Fire Detection & Alarm systems (FD&A) and are looking to next the next step to third party certifcation then this could be the scheme for you.

Objectives of The Route to SP203 (FD&A) Certifcation Scheme

To help a company who are working with Fire Detection & Alarm Systems become a FIA member by meeting the membership criteria with help through consultation, to achieve registration to the BAFE SP203.

Organisations involved in the scheme:

  • Fire Industry Association ( FIA )
  • British Standards Institution ( BSI ); or National Security Inspectorate ( NSI )
  • British Approvals for Fire Equipment ( BAFE )

Benefits for the participating company:

  • FIA : Full membership of the FIA
  • Quality Consultant Support ( FIA *): Develop a Quality Policy Manual to meet the requirements of SP203 which relates to the participating company business operations.
  • Certification Body ( NSI or BSI ): A UKAS Accredited certification body who will fully audit the participating company to become a certified BAFE SP203 registered company
  • BAFE : Full registration once participating company has full certification
  • Overall costs reduced under the scheme.
  • Communication with all involved easier.
  • A quicker timescale than if arranged independently.

Costs of the scheme.

The cost of the scheme is dependant on the size and turnover (Fire protection related) of the participating company, and on the information supplied for the initial quotation.

 * If requested by the participating company, a quote can be provided using the services of an external consultant, XBS Business Solutions Ltd, as an alternative to the FIA Compliance Manager.
