Unit 6 - Advanced Commissioning

 

Delegates should have previously attended and passed Unit 1 Fire Detection Design before booking and attending this course.


Building directly on from the knowledge and understanding gained through attendance on Unit 1, this course covers the final stage of installing a fire detection and alarm system before handing over the completed system to the client and responsible person.

The unit covers all aspects of commissioning from testing components and circuits, through the operation of ancillary equipment and communication with alarm receiving centres to the final documentation and handover. This course has a generic content and is not restricted to specific products.

 

The Course

This intensive course is run over one day and follows on from Unit 1 Fire Detection Design. Covering all areas of fire detection and alarm commissioning, ensuring that an installed system is fully functioning and documented when it is handed over to the Responsible Person for your client.

 

Who Should Attend?

Delegates wishing to attend this course should have previously attended and passed Unit 1 Fire Detection Design. This unit is designed to benefit commissioning engineers. It is a generic course and not limited to individual products, as such the course will suit engineers across the range of system suppliers.

Delegates will gain a thorough understanding of:

  • Workmanship
  • Labelling
  • Component checks
  • Component functionality
  • Sound audibility
  • Battery capacity
  • Circuit performance and functions
  • Site “as fitted” diagrams
  • Operation of ancillary equipment
  • Transmission to an alarm receiving centre
  • Documentation and system handover

 

Outcome

All course delegates will be provided with a comprehensive manual covering the material included in the unit and additional support material, serving as a valuable point of reference after completion of the course. The ongoing assessment included during the day will allow the trainer to monitor progress and provide additional assistance to learning where required.

Delegates achieving 75% or more in the assessments will be awarded an FIA certificate stating that they have attended and passed the course.

  • £150 per delegate ( FIA members)
  • £225 per delegate (Non-members)

NB:  If you have a recognised learning difficulty or dyslexia please contact our training department at the time booking, so that we can make our trainer aware of your learning needs. The FIA will make reasonable arrangements to assist any delegate that has a recognised learning difficulty or dyslexia. Any additional costs incurred will be passed back to the delegate or their employer.  

You may be asked to provide proof of testing for dyslexia or learning difficulty prior to or on commencement of the course.
